TAKE UP SPACE

SEP 8, 2018 - JANUARY 2019

The Pizzuti Collection presents an exhibition of recent abstract paintings centered on a large-scale installation by the Los Angeles-based artist Sarah Cain. Visitors will be able to walk across Cain’s painted floor Dark Matter experiencing her riotous colors and enthusiastically wide-ranging patterns, organic forms, and geometric shapes. Responding to environment and place, Cain offers up an immersive moment where painting takes up space becoming intriguingly open, responsive, and powerful.

The celebratory mood extends up onto the walls with paintings that also use the abstract field to specifically reckon with an array of matters including architecture, physicality, and personal experience. Artists include Zachary Armstrong, Sarah Crowner, Luca Dellaverson, Tomory Dodge, Tomashi Jackson, Pamela Jorden, Florian Meisenberg, Odili Donald Odita, and Jackie Saccoccio.

WHEN ATTITUDES BECOME CHAIRS

Guest Co-Curated by Marc Benda of Friedman Benda and Glenn Adamson

SEP 8, 2018 - JANUARY 2019

In recent years the world of furniture design has been completely transformed. Once a fairly restrictive field in which form tended to follow function, it is today one of the most dynamic of all creative disciplines. Across a wide range of approaches - sometimes powered by new technology, sometimes simply by their imaginations - artists and designers alike are dramatically expanding the possibilities for furniture. This exhibition focuses exclusively on cutting-edge chair forms, including works by Ron Arad, Wendell Castle, Shiro Kuramata and Gaetano Pesce; as well as Joris Laarman, whose high-tech and high-concept designs are shown in particular depth.

Supported in part by a grant from the Greater Columbus Arts Council.

For Freedoms

SEP 8, 2018 - JANUARY 2019

FOR FREEDOMS is an artist-run initiative founded in 2016 by Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman to encourage civic engagement, discourse, and direct action for artists in the United States.

The Pizzuti Collection proudly joins For Freedoms in their 50 State Initiative. From September to November 2018, concurrent decentralized art exhibitions and public events across the country will encourage broad participation in civic discourse and, through lifting up a multiplicity of voices, will spark a national dialogue about art, education, advertising and politics. We join For Freedoms in believing in the collective power of artists. We are committed to the idea that democracy thrives on free dialogue.
