Ryan McGinness is known for his pop art infused style and graphic design that combines the influence of the surfer/skater culture of Virginia Beach with his artistic command of the contemporary visual experience. His compositions range from psychedelic combinations of geometries, to simple iconic designs that pare down forms to the most basic lines. His surfaces are smooth arrays, evidence of his mastery of silkscreen and spray paint techniques.
Ryan McGinness received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon College of Fine Arts, Pittsburgh, PA and was a Curatorial Assistant at the Andy Warhol Museum, Pittsburgh, PA. His works are in the permanent public collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, VA; Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, CA; Cincinnati Art Museum, Cincinnati, OH; MUSAC in Spain, and the Misumi Collection in Japan.
