“Mangle” translates to mangrove – a tree that thrives in difficult swampy environments, growing a tangled and strong root system. The name of this artist collective reflects their desire to work with wood, following its grain and the natural shape to create furniture that flows from nature’s designs.

Diego Fernando Álvarez and Maria Paula Álvarez studied in the wood program of la Escuela de Artes y Oficios de Santo Domingo in Columbia before forming the collective called Mangle in 2006.
