Eduardo PonJuan’s drawing is from a series in which the artist uses out-of-circulation coins to create sculptures. The Lightning Rod is an example of the sculptures built to represent the height of historical and political figures.
Eduardo Ponjuan was born in Pinar de Rio, Cuba in 1956. He graduated from the Escuela Provincial de Arte, Holguin in 1978, from the Escuela Nacional de Arte, Havana in 1982, and the Instituto Superior de Arte, Havana in 1983. He has exhibited widely, in Cuba, Europe, Canada, and Asia.
