Allison Miller‘s paintings are a fantastic journey through geometric shapes, curves, and stripes. While keeping to a standard canvas size, Miller creates abstractions that are organized in strata. Fields of color fill the spaces, sometimes in strong opaque designs and other times in a transparent wash. Miller takes viewers on a puzzle of planes where bold black and white lines overlap a scrim like veils. There is no resolution to what forms are above or below one another, just an outstanding exploration of the possibilities of the picture plane.
Allison Miller received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in 1996 and her MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2001.
